Manchester, UK -- (ReleaseWire) -- 06/07/2017 -- Baxter Reid, an Australian male who was detained in the US for overstaying his US Visa by a mere 90 minutes has now been released, to the joy of many.
The detaining came about after Reid attempted to enter Canada for a holiday just before his US visa expired, however upon arrival in Canada he got help up by Canadian officials before being sent back to the US – by which time his visa had expired. It is still not clear why Baxter Reid was turned away from Canada.
Following being released from the detention centre Reid and his girlfriend set up an online campaign to raise funds to pay for an immigration solicitor, and have since been to court, with Reid being given 120 days to exit to US voluntarily. It is thought that the Australian Government played a role in vouching for Reid and assisting his case.
A spokesperson and representative from one of the UK's leading immigration solicitors James Freeman was incredibly eager to comment saying, "Baxter Reid although considered unlucky for getting detained for outstaying his welcome by 90 minutes, is not alone – People are getting detained on a regular basis for not sticking to their visa requirements and here at James Freeman we can help people avoid this from happening by providing leading advice and guidance.
