With less than a month to go before the official arrival of spring, it’s important to be proactive and start considering the eventual arrival of storm season. Alonso Perez suggests homeowners begin their preparations early to avoid last minute emergencies.

Miami, FL -- (ReleaseWire) -- 03/02/2018 -- One of the most important things to have during a major storm or hurricane is a disaster supply kit. This kit should include essential items in case of an emergency and there should be enough supplies to last at least a week or so as power outages can last for several days following a storm. The kit should have items such as nonperishable food items, at least a gallon of water per person per day, batteries and flashlights, first aid supplies, and also pet essentials if the homeowner has any.

Besides the kit, it's also important to ensure the home is ready to face the storm. Any dead or dying limbs should be removed from nearby trees and all gutters should be thoroughly checked to ensure they are free of debris or clogs. Homeowners may also wish to consider having a working generator and possibly building a safe room in the interior of the home if time and money allow.

Any homeowners that run into trouble in dealing with their homeowner's insurance provider and their claims are encouraged to call the firm for a complimentary consultation.
